Abu Dhabi streamlines holiday home regulatory process

Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism has updated the emirate’s holiday home regulations, making the system faster, simpler and more user-friendly for owners and operators.

The changes reduce approval times, streamline licensing and introduce a more modern digital platform.

The upgraded system also strengthens regulatory compliance, improves revenue management and makes it easier to coordinate with other government entities.

DCT Abu Dhabi says the changes will also support higher quality and safety standards, with improved tools for inspections, monitoring and compliance tracking.

The department added the platform meets all required data protection standards, with sensitive information securely managed and stored.

The latest upgrades build on improvements introduced in 2024, when DCT Abu Dhabi integrated the holiday home licensing platform with the Department of Municipalities and Transport and its self-inspection system.

That integration helped cut permit processing times to less than six hours.

DCT Abu Dhabi says the latest developments support the emirate’s Tourism Strategy 2030 by expanding accommodation options and strengthening Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading global tourism destination.
