Project Intern: Chirag
q : Hi Chirag, First things first, (Welcome to City 1016) Tell us how old are you and how long have you been in Dubai?
a : Thank You for the warm welcome, I am 22 years old & have lived in Dubai all my life. #TotalDesiBwoy
q : School school? College college?
a : Well, I did my schooling from The Indian High School Dubai followed by my 3 years of University in Middlesex University Dubai.
q : When did you realise radio was something you wanted to get into?
a : Music is/was and will be my passion always, but the interest started back in 2008, when City hosted their first Iftar. I was a part of it and I got a chance to catchup with Rohit Jayakaran. Obviously you have so many questions about something you have never seen and so I shot questions at him and after getting to know the insights, I realised that this is something I always wanted and becoming a Radio Jockey turned into a dream which i wanted to chase.
Hence, going by his suggestions of indulging in extra-curricular activities, I started off as the head RJ of my school for 2 years. Also with my passion in music, I started playing at parties as a DJ, started dancing, doing theatre. And so during my university days, all this was happening simultaneously until I completed my graduation. I then worked for sometime in Dubai and decided to chase my dream of getting in the Radio Industry. So I headed to Mumbai, completed a course on Radio Jockeying and when I landed back in Dubai, I received a message from Malavika asking if I was interested in this project. There was absolutely no way I would say no!
q: Like Movies? What are the last 3 movies you loved?
a: Yess!! Huge Huge Huge Bollywood fan. Hardly miss any bollywood movie. #TotalDesiBwoy. Top 3 movies this year for me are Airlift, Udta Punjab and Sultan (Huge Salman Fan, hence you can add Freaky Ali also :P)
q : What are the last 3 songs you loved so much, you couldn’t stop singing?
a: Well, I am in love with the title track of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, also Kala Chashma has been one of my recent favourites to dance to …. and how can I forget Jag Ghomeeya (Huge Salman Fan Again :P)
q: 3 things you you discovered after joining City 1016 studios?
a: 1) I never knew there were 5 studios of different radio stations, all of different languages… all together. That was something incredible to me.
2) The weather of UAE has no effect in the office in here, its just really cool… all the time in here, including the boss.
3) When you tell people that you work at City, the sentence that follows is “Mujhe on air ek hi bol de na… PLIIISSS”
q: Things you just can’t wait for to discover/introduce at City 1016?
a: Can’t wait to learn the experience of hosting an entire show, catching up with RJ’s and their valuable experience to enhance my skills. Contribute as much as I can from events to brainstorming ideas to promos, adverts, EVERYTHING. Looking forward to live my dream.
*Pinch me, is this a dream?*
