Cricket enthusiast or not, the tenth season of IPL will appeal to many because of the heartwarming stories that are accompanying it. Twitterati and Instagram is clearly ‘stoked’ about IPL’s most expensive international buy – Ben Stokes. We had the pleasure of discussing everything cricket with Joy Chakravarthy, Deputy Editor, Sport360.
We learnt a couple of things from the cricket expert:
1. Afghanistan players create history
Afghanistan player Mohammad Nabi will go down in history as the first Afghanistan player to be bought in an IPL auction. The cricketer was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 30 Lakh.
2. A heartwarming rags to riches IPL story
An auto rickshaw driver’s son, Mohammed Siraj’s dream was translated into reality when he was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for a whopping Rs 2.6 crore.
3. Dream big, achieve bigger!
Kings XI Punjab roped in T Natarajan, the son of a daily wager’s son and get this: T Natarajan has become the highest paid Indian uncapped player.
4. Another first – UAE talent in the IPL!
Chirag Suri, a Heriot-Watt university student, only all of 22, became the first UAE-based Indian cricketer to have been selected for the IPL, after his stellar consistent performance for the Sharjah Club.
All this makes us SO PROUD!
